Nalgonda: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday exuded confidence that the Congress wave would continue in the May 27 byelection to the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates constituency of the Legislative Council, which spreads across 34 Assembly segments.
Speaking at a meeting at Kodad to introduce Congress candidate Chintakayala ‘Teenmar Mallanna’ Naveen, Uttam Kumar Reddy recalled that he had predicted the Congress victory from Kodad and Huzurnagar segments by nearly 50,000 votes in the Assembly elections.
He said he had also predicted the victory of Nalgonda Lok Sabha candidate K. Raghuveer Reddy.
Teenmar Mallanna offered an apology to Uttam Kumar Reddy for the “mistakes” he had made.
He alleged that BRS candidate Palla Rajeshwar Reddy had won in previous Council elections with bogus votes. He asked the graduate voters to reject the the BJP and BRS. He said that the BJP was consipiring to amend the Constitution of India and withdraw reservations. The educated youth should teach the BRS a lesson for not implementing its promise to fill up all vacant posts. Kodad MLA Uttam Padmavathi, Congress leaders Venepally Chander Rao and Cheviti Venkanna also attended the meeting.
