Warangal: In the high-stakes Assembly election battle held on November 30, the Congress has registered a thumping victory by winning ten out of 12 constituencies in the erstwhile Warangal district.
Of the 12 assembly segments, BRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao changed the incumbents from two seats -- Jangaon and Station Ghanpur and allotted tickets to two MLCs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Kadiyam Srihari. Surprisingly, the BRS registered victories in these two segments.
Palla Rajeswhar Reddy defeated Congress candidate Kommuri Prathap Reddy in Jangaon and Kadiyam Srihari won over Congress candidate Singarapu Indira in Station Ghanpur.
Whereas, minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, a six-time MLA, was drubbed by 26-year-old first-timer Mamidala Yasheshwini of Congress in Palakurthy.
Another Congress first-timer Naini Rajendar Reddy from Warangal West triumphed over government chief whip and four-time MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar.
Former IPS officer and Congress candidate K.R. Nagaraju, also a first-timer, won from Wardhannapet against two-time MLA Aroori Ramesh.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, the Congress won two seats -- Mulugu (Dasari
Anasuya (Seethakka) and Bhupalpally (Gandra Venkataramana Reddy). But Venkatramana Reddy later shifted his loyalties to the ruling BRS.
When Mulugu MLA Seethakka retained her seat by winning with a majority of 33,700 votes against BRS candidate Bade Nagajyothi, Congress candidate Gandra Satyanarayana defeated BRS MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy by 52,584 votes in Bhupalpally.
In the Warangal East segment, former minister Konda Surekha defeated BJP’s Errabelli Pradeep Rao, who is the brother of minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao. Surprisingly, BRS MLA Nannapuneni Narendra secured third place in these elections.
Revuri Prakash Reddy, who joined Congress just before the polls, contested on a Congress ticket and defeated BRS MLA Challa Dharma Reddy in Parkala.
In the Narsampet, Donthi Madhava Reddy of Congress defeated BRS MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy.
BRS’ Dornakal MLA D.S.Redya Naik, a six-time MLA, bit the dust at the hands of Dr Ram Chander Naik of Congress.
In Mahabubabad, Congress candidate Dr Murali Naik registered victory by defeating BRS MLA Banoth Shankar Naik.
