Continental Hospitals launched a dedicated ambulance for brain stroke emergencies here on Monday, as part of its ‘Freedom from Stroke’ initiative on the eve of Independence Day. The custom-built ambulance to diagnose and treat brain stroke patients was inaugurated by Health Minister C Laxma Reddy.
The ambulance is critical for saving the lives of stroke victims, as it
would reduce the time it takes to start treatment after a stroke.
“Most of the patients suffering from stroke were not getting appropriate treatment because of the delay in conveyance. That’s why we thought of having a round-the-clock ambulance only for stroke victims,” said Consultant Neurologist at the Continental Hospitals, Dr Vikram Sharma.
