Cops will deploy 100 static, mobile team on the eve of New Year

Cops of the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates will deploy around 100 static, mobile and decoy teams across the city to nab the drunk drivers. The special checks will begin at 10 pm on December 31 and continue till early morning on January 1.

Police will also gather evidence against the offenders to present a watertight case before the court. “We will video record the entire drink driving check. If any citizen resists the breathalyser test, we have the option of escorting the individual concerned to the nearest government hospital for blood test,” DCP (traffic) Hyderabad, A Ranaganth said.

Year, police have decided to not allow traffic on flyovers across the city.All the flyovers will be closed for traffic on December 31 night,” Cyberabad commissioner Sandeep Shandilya said.

In addition to closing the flyovers across the city for traffic, traffic police have also decided to allow only the vehicles going to or returning from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) to ply on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). “The passenger have to show either boarding pass or e-ticket of their flight to enter the Outer Ring Road. We will also subject the drivers entering the Outer Ring Road to breathalyser test,” Rachakonda commissioner, Mahesh Bhagawat said.
