Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said municipal councillors will be held accountable if garbage collection vehicles fail to collect trash from households on a daily basis. Explaining the tough new Municipal Act, the Minister said failure to ensure collection of garbage daily can even mean councillors losing their jobs.

“Garbage has become a global menace,” the Minister observed, adding that the citizens can reduce the burden on sanitation workers by segregating it properly that would also help reduce the amount of the garbage reaching dump yards considerably.
Calling upon the citizens, officials and elected representatives to make Dubbak a clean and green town, he said that 800 double bedroom houses were ready for allotment in Dubbak Constituency which will be handed
over to the beneficiaries on the eve of Ugadi festival, setting off a thunderous round of applause. “The government will soon sanction funds to poor families who have land to help them construct their own houses,” he said.
