Hyderabad: Domestic passengers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, including frequent flyers, who have only hand baggage, will not have to stand in long queues for security clearance with other passengers from Friday.
The GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which operates RGIA, has tied up with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to launch the country’s first Express Security Check facility for domestic passengers carrying only hand baggage. The facility will be inaugurated on Friday, according to GHIAL officials.
CISF Director General OP Singh will inaugurate the Express
Security Check which will be in the form of an exclusive kiosk at the Domestic Departure area at RGIA on Friday in the presence of GHIAL chief executive officer SGK Kishore.
The decision to have such a facility was to speed up the security clearance process, especially with about 40 per cent of domestic passengers at the RGIA carrying only hand baggage. Having these passengers stand in queue with others, who would have to get their check-in baggage cleared, would only delay the proceedings, officials said, adding that the Express Security Check at RGIA would be the first such facility in Indian airports.
