A state-of-the-art Covid Command Centre to monitor and assist Covid-19 patients across the State was inaugurated by IT Minister KT Rama Rao here on Friday at the Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare in Vengalraonagar.

The facility has been developed to assist citizens efficiently in the event of a third wave and other Covid related issues. The Command Centre has been planned in such a way that during the time of a significant surge in Covid infections, it will act as a single nodal point for managing bed availability in private and government hospitals and ensure there is enough oxygen available for critical patients.

To ensure the 108 emergency ambulances transport Covid positive patients to the right hospital that has vacant beds, tablets were also distributed to ambulance pilots. The tablets will provide pilots access to real-time information related to empty vacant beds so that the positive patients can be taken to nearest private or government hospital with an empty bed. Qualified individuals manning the Command Centre can also guide the ambulance personnel to take the right call

in the interest of the patient.

The Command Centre also has the ability to track the well-being of Covid positive patients who are in home quarantine, monitor the secondary and primary contacts of all the Covid positive cases and even hotspots located across the State, health officials said.

The Minister, who went around the centre was briefed about the executive dashboard which can provide an overview of all the key metrics to track. A data analytics and artificial intelligence driven system which can help the officials in taking decisions regarding all Covid related demand, supply status and optimal allocation mechanisms was also explained in detail.

The Minister later inaugurated a Call Centre set up on the same premises. Citizens can dial 1905 and get information about all Covid related services like testing and vaccination centres, ambulance services, hospitalization requirements etc.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Health Secretary SAM Rizvi, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and others were present.
