Covid hospitals to be set up in all Telangana districts: Harish Rao

Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to create 100-bed hospitals in all the district headquarters in the State to decentralise treatment for Covid-19 patients and for effective tackling of the pandemic.

The State government, he said, will also establish coronavirus testing laboratories in Siddipet. Inaugurating the 100-bed Covid-19 hospital at Area Hospital here, Harish Rao said the administration had already procured 70 per cent of the equipment to set up the lab.

Stating that 20 out of the 100 beds would be Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facility, the Minister said every bed in the hospital will have oxygen supply facility and that only one person would be kept in each block.

Harish Rao said that patients suffering with mild symptoms will be shifted to the 100-bed isolation block to provide them necessary treatment. The government has already appointed 28 doctors and 150 nurses and support staff exclusively



for the isolation block, he said, adding that people who test positive, but not having symptoms will be advised to stay in isolation in their own homes.

The Minister, however, clarified that people who do not have proper isolation facility at home will be shifted to the 100-bed isolation block where they would be given proper medication and food until they recover. Persons suffering from serious symptoms such as breathlessness will be shifted to Osmania or Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, the Minister said.

He went around the isolation ward and interacted with nurses and enquired about their well-being. He called upon the people to extend moral support to the doctors, nurses, sanitation staff and others terming them as Covid warriors.

The Minister said patients will be provided healthy and nutritious food and hot water round the clock. Zilla Parishad Chairperson, V Roja Sharma, MLC Farooq Hussain and others were present.
