Hyderabad: Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya said that in order to uplift the Backward Classes, the Union Cabinet has taken a decision to establish a constitutional commission at national level and this is really very good news.
The Union Cabinet, which met on Wednesday, took a decision to establish National Commission for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes in place of National Commission for Backward Classes. “It is a very good development that the Union Cabinet has agreed to amend Article 338 (B) to accord constitutional status to this commission as it is meant to uplift the Backward Classes,” Dattatraya said.
This Amendment Bill would be taken to the Parliament as well and ensure statutory status. A decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet which proves Narendra Modi Government’s commitment
over the all-round development of BCs, he added.
Dattatraya also stated that like the SC and ST Commissions have the constitutional validity, this BC Commission should also be provided the constitutional validity. “This demand is there since long ago. When I was the president of the Backward Classes Parliamentary Committee, I have taken the issue of establishment of a commission to the notice of the Union government for several times.
However, I am very happy that our government has taken a decision to establish a National Backward Classes Commission when I am a minister in this Cabinet and in Parliament,” Dattatraya added.
Bandaru Dattatraya expressed his happiness and profusely thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking such a decision to establish the NCSEBC.
