Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya urged the State government to release its share of Rs.300 crore towards Phase-II of the Multi-Modal Transit System suburban rail project to enable its early completion.
The Centre has allocated Rs.100 crore as its share towards completion of MMTS Phase-II and now the State government should release its share to complete the project, he said.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that Centre has sanctioned Rs 3,034 crore 2017-18, as against Rs 2,134 crore sanctioned in
2016-17 for infrastructure projects in South Central Railway. “Under the Station Redevelopment Project, Secunderabad and Vijayawada Railway Stations on SCR have been included,” he said.
Dattatreya demanded that the State government speed up completion of the ongoing Hyderabad Metro Rail project and to start operations on the completed stretches. “The HMR has already completed the Nagole-Mettuguda and Miyapur-SR Nagar stretch and they should complete the Secunderabad and Begumpet work at the earliest,” the Minister said.
