Panjagutta fire personnel on Wednesday rescued a delivery executive who was struck in a lift in an apartment at Banjara Hills in the city on Thursday. The executive, Ali Akbar, had gone to deliver food to a resident when the incident occurred.
Panjagutta fire officer G.B. Chandra Shekhar Babu said that when they arrived at the spot, they found the lift had gone up to the terrace and got stuck there. As all efforts
to open it failed, they drilled through the wall of the lift shaft, made an opening in the lift and pulled Akbar safely. "Due to some technical glitch, it could have happened," he said.
Police said that Akbar entered the lift to go to the second floor. The lift went past the third floor and stopped at the terrace. Residents called the police to rescue him.
