Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari has announced that 84 new Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) schools would be established in 84 news mandals of Telangana State from the new academic year 2017-18. He said 29 Kasturba Vidyalays for boys would be established at district headquarters.
The Deputy CM made these announcements while reviewing the implementation of Central Government’s education schemes in the State at the Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday.
He informed that the Jhonson & Jhonson company has agreed to provide furniture, beds and bed-sheets for the KGBV schools He said each school would be provided Rs. 20,000-75,000 towards maintenance. He said uniform,
toilets and drinking water facility would be ensured before beginning the schools.
CC Cameras will also be installed in all schools to ensure proper security. He said that there was a proposal to increase the salaries of Special Officer and CRP in Kasturba schools.
Kadiyam directed the officials to strive hard to get more funds for education from the Central Government. Last year, during the last quarter, Rs. 300 crore were received from the Centre for Sarva Siksha Abhiyan while Rs. 110 crore were received for Rashtra Madhimika Abhiyan.
He also informed that bio-metric machines would be introduced in 6,000 schools from the new academic year.
