Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has been allotted the official residence in Jyothiba Phule Praja Bhavan, which was formerly used as the Chief Minister’s residence during the previous regime.
Vikramarka, who is also the minister for finance and planning, and energy, is expected to move into the building in the next few days. The Deputy Chief Minister is scheduled to hold a special puja at 5.30 am on Thursday before formally moving in, according to his office.
The order allotting the government residential building was issued by
Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, who instructed the roads and buildings (R&B) department to intimate the date of occupation to the Deputy Chief Minister.
The complex is spread across nine acres and has five buildings, including office spaces for government staff and security personnel, and a conference hall that is now being used for Praja Vani — the biweekly (twice a week) programme for people to reach out directly to the government and submit their petitions or bring to notice hardships they are facing.
