Director-General of Police M Mahendar Reddy here on Friday sought the cooperation of people in controlling the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the State.

Speaking to the media after inspecting containment areas in Mehdipatnam, Mallepally, Feelkhana and Indira Nagar Colony, he advised the families of those affected by the virus to contact the police or health department officials to conduct necessary medical tests.

Reddy said the tracing of contacts of Covid-19 positive patients would continue to prevent the spread of the virus. The primary and secondary contact along with all those

who came in contact with the patient would be traced for conducting medical tests, he said.

The main intention of declaring containment areas was to ensure that the people stay at home after Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the area. People should not step out of their homes in containment areas, he said, adding that in case any assistance was required, residents could dial the call centre number.

“We are taking necessary steps in coordination with Municipal and Health departments to contain the spread of the virus,” he said.
