Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Union Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar inaugurated the Digi Dhan Mela at People’s Plaza in Hyderabad on Wednesday. In order to promote digital transactions, NITI Aayog and the State Government of Telangana jointly conducted a two-day Digi Dhan Mela in Hyderabad.
While addressing the media, Dattatreya said that Digi Dhan Mela creates the awareness among the people towards digital transactions. He further said that the Mela was very much helpful for the farmers, labour and workers to open bank accounts and also enroll for Aadhaar card. The NDA government has been working to eradicate poverty and improve the livelihood of the poorest of the poor in the country, he said.
Speaking on the digital literacy, Dattatreya said that in Telangana State 5,45,148 people were trained in digital transactions at gram panchayat level and 1,29,000
small business persons were trained and more than 350 workshops conducted. He further said that in Telangana, 65,000 of small business traders are accepting cashless transactions at mandal level.
It is good to see that Siddipet is on the way to become as cashless transaction city. He also said that after demonetisation 50 lakhs new bank accounts were opened through EPFO and ESIC across the country by setting motivation through awareness camps.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar said that when technological revolution was sweeping across the country it is important to deliver technological services to the poor and the poorest of the country. The technology can improve the livelihood of the common man, he said. Senior officers of banking industry, people from different walks of life, including students, professionals and the common public attended the Mela.
