Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya and M J Akbar will participate in ‘Digi Dhan Mela’
aiming to promote cashless transactions and less cash on January 18 here.

Dattatreya said both Centre and the State Government officials would
participate in the event and as many as 100 such melas would be organised
throughout the country up to April 14, 2017. In such melas, awards will also be
given to encourage cashless transactions, he added. “The objective is to see
that some digital transactions are also done on that day,” Dattatreya said,
adding, the melas would be
held in Warangal and Nizamabad as well.
The Minister said Niti Aayog
Advisor Ashok Kumar Jain too may be present for the event.A senior State Government
official said though the Centre wanted it be held one day, the Telangana
Government wanted it to hold for two days to encourage people towards
digitalisation.
The official said they expect as
many as 80 stalls will be put up by banks, mobile wallet companies and
agriculture related establishments.
