Direct flights from Hyderabad Intl airport to Colombo resumed

Direct flight services from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here to Colombo, Sri Lanka recommenced on Friday after a gap of nearly 19 months.

A Sri Lankan Airlines flight took off at 9.55 am with 120 passengers from Hyderabad to Colombo amidst much fanfare at the airport. Senior officials from GMR Hyderabad International Airport and Sri Lankan Airlines, along with other airport stakeholders were present. The Sri Lankan flights will operate between RGIA and Colombo twice a week, on Monday and Friday.

V. Ravindran, Regional Manager, India, Bangladesh and Nepal, Sri Lankan Airlines, said Telangana and AP were key markets for Sri Lanka and that Sri Lankan Airlines was looking forward to further expansion in terms of frequencies or capacity out of Telangana when passenger demand is expected to grow.
