Hyderabad: On Saturday, the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) urged Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to give the newly constructed state secretariat to the Osmania General Hospital as "public health" until a decision is made about the old, run-down OGH.
“We the members of HRDA hereby bring to your kind notice that the Dept. of Health & Family Welfare is neglecting the Osmania General Hospital new building issue and is unable to make a final decision on the old building and construct a new building. This is something that the
Dept. of Health & Family Welfare should be aware of. The letter stated, "Patients are treated in temporary sheds and all departments are clustered inside, resulting in a congested environment and inconvenience for OGH staff and patients."
The Doctors' group also suggested allocating the former OGH building to the secretariat. The report added, "An expert committee gave a report that the old building can be utilized for administrative purposes for the benefit of patients of Telangana." The old OGI building can be temporarily assigned to the secretariat.
