MIM floor leader
Akbaruddin Owaisi on Friday advised Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao against
blindly supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his demonetisation drive.
Instead, Mr Owaisi asked him to support people who are facing several hardships
for nearly 40 days due to the cash crunch.
The debate on the Central government’s ban on high value notes in the Legislative Assembly led to an exchange of words between Mr Owaisi, the Chief Minister and BJP floor leader Kishan Reddy.
Mr Owaisi alleged
that the demonetisation was announced only to bail out collapsing banking
industry on
account of mountains of bad debts and a few big corporates who were
debt-ridden. He said all claims of banning high value notes to check black
money, terrorism etc are a farce.Commenting on Mr Chandrasekhar Rao’s support
to the BJP on the note ban, Mr Owaisi said, “This is a strange situation! We
are supporting the TRS and the TRS is advocating for the BJP. Too much of an advocacy is not good.”
Mr Rao, however, objected to Mr Owaisi’s remarks saying that he was not advocating for anyone but only supporting it in the interest of nation with the confidence in the PM’s decision.
