Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad, which was launched on October 23, 1977 by the then President N Sanjeeva Reddy will be celebrating its 41st formation day on Tuesday.
To celebrate the occasion, officials here are organising ‘Navarasa Jhari 2018’ on the day at Doordarshan Kendra, Ramanthapur from 6 pm onwards.
As part of the celebrations, there will be a classical music medley, Qawwali by women, folk artistes show, western fusion and other programmes. The channel has also invited short film filmmakers to present their works and the best works will be telecast for
free.
Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad was transformed into a full-fledged 24 hours regional channel from the Television Base Production Centre during 1974 to educate people by producing and telecasting area specific programmes, said M Vijay Bhagawan, Director, Doordarshan Kendra – Hyderabad.
In April 2003, DD Hyderabad was renamed ‘Saptagiri’. With the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad’s regional network in Telugu got a new identity as ‘DD Yadagiri’ on September 27, 2014.
