A team of employees from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories have set a Guinness World Record by creating the world’s largest cardboard mosaic that is aimed at spreading awareness on the need to increase the use of zinc and oral rehydration salts to treat diarrhoea among children.
The enormous mosaic depicting the image of an infant was made with 1.39 lakh Dr. Reddy’s Z&D packs, the recently launched zinc sulphate formulation meant to be taken along with ORS for treatment of diarrhoea among children. The image of the infant is spread
over 4,200 square feet area at Dr. Reddy’s Bachupally facility in the city outskirts.
According to officials from Dr. Reddy’s, if zinc is taken with ORS, then it helps children recover faster from diarrhoea, helps the child resist the ailment for longer period of time and have fewer episodes of diarrhoea per year.
The research team from Dr. Reddy’s said that little progress has been made to scale-up access of zinc and ORS which have been recommended by the WHO and UNICEF for treatment of child diarrhoea.
