Dubbaka MLA and Assembly Estimates Committee Chairman Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy (57), died of a heart attack after prolonged illness at a private hospital here on Thursday. He breathed his last at around 2.30 am. Family members took his mortal remains to his native village Chittapur for last rites.
The four-time legislator played an active role in the Statehood movement, after he joined the TRS in 2001. A journalist before he joined politics, Ramalinga Reddy was a soft spoken person and was known for his simplicity.
Expressing shock over the sudden demise of Ramalinga Reddy, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, in a condolence statement, recalled his association with the legislator during the agitation for separate Telangana State and also being a native of the same district. The Chief Minister offered his condolences to the bereaved family, and prayed
for peace to the departed soul.
TRS Working president and IT Minister K T Rama Rao condoling Ramalinga Reddy’s death said that he was deeply disturbed by his death and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family members.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao said Ramalinga Reddy was a people’s man, who played a key role in the Statehood movement as a journalist and then as a leader.
Ministers Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, E Rajender , E Dayakar Rao, T Srinivas Yadav, A Indrakaran Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, Sabitha Indrareddy, Koppula Eswar, V Srinivas Goud , State Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar, MP J Santosh Kumar and several others expressed condolences on the death of Ramalinga Reddy. They said that Ramalinga Reddy’s death was a big loss to TRS and people of Dubbaka.
