Commuters can buy RFID tag at entry points of either Shamshabad or Nanakramguda. The reloadable tag is fitted to the vehicles and enables automatic deduction of toll charges without stopping of vehicle at toll entry and exit
points.
“The ETC-RFID toll system has been introduced on a pilot basis for one month. Commuters can pass through the toll using the tag between 9am and 6pm. It will be extended to other toll plazas in the near future,” HMDA commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said.
To buy the RFID tag, commuters have to provide registration document of the vehicle, passport size photograph and KYC document.
“The electronic payment system through RFID would be extended to the entire ORR and other national highways in phases,” said municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao who inaugurated the ETC-RFID technology on Monday.
