Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has managed to collect nearly Rs 401 crore towards property tax till Monday evening under the Early Bird Scheme, which will elapse by April 30 this year.
According to GHMC officials, on Monday they managed to collect over Rs 25 crore property tax.
Under the Early Bird Scheme, GHMC is offering five per cent rebate to building owners, who pay their property tax before April 30 and had set itself a target of collecting Rs 500 crore.
Last financial year, the municipal corporation had collected Rs 433.09 crore under the scheme and this financial
year, it has set eye on collecting Rs 500 crore. To this effect, GHMC Commissioner, M Dana Kishore had issued orders fixing targets for each zone.
The municipal corporation is focusing on non-residential structures and is aiming to collect the property tax of these structures through the GHMC staff, including tax inspectors and bill collectors.
The Commissioner had appealed to the citizens to avail the opportunity of five per cent rebate and said building owners could pay the taxes online and at Citizen Service Centres, e-Seva and Mee-Seva centres, according to a press release.
