Healthcare workers in government hospitals across Telangana should ensure that no lives were lost due to the ongoing pandemic, Health Minister, Eatala Rajender said on Sunday.
In a tele-conference with District Medical and Health Officers (DM&HO) and senior health officials, Rajender directed them to focus on providing proper support to Covid positive cases who were in isolation homes or care centres.
As on Sunday, there were nearly 45,000 Covid positive patients who were under isolation. “A large number of positive cases, who are in home isolation, are delaying their admission to hospitals, despite drop in their oxygen levels. As a result of
this delay, many are losing their lives,” he said.
The Health Minister said that Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) in districts should visit the homes of such Covid positive patients at least twice to measure their oxygen levels and track other vital signs like BP and hypertension.
“We have also urged Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan to provide us access to rapid antigen testing kits, which can be purchased at the earliest,” Rajender said. Instructions were also issued to DM&HOs to start treatment of patients with Covid symptoms and not wait for test results, which could go a long way in saving lives.
