On account of the increase in Covid-19 cases in Telangana, Health Minister Eatala Rajender spoke to officials from the health department on Wednesday and directed them to further step up measures to contain the coronavirus spread.
On Thursday, the Minister will also hold an emergency meeting with the health officials including superintendents of Covid hospitals, nodal officers and other stakeholders like hospital authorities, where necessary steps to curtail the further spread of the Covid-19 will be discussed and planned.
According to Rajender, the State has already reduced the death rate drastically by implementing a wide range of measures against Covid-19 and is better equipped to handle it now than before. Health officials also informed the Minister that though the cases
were increasing, the intensity is a lot lesser than what it was last year.
In a phone conversation with health department officials, the Minister said, “Vaccination is going on at full pace in the State and we also requested the union government to send us necessary doses at the earliest.”
Additionally, he said the police, municipal and panchayat raj officials will be utilised to fight the rise of cases in the coming days and decisions regarding the same will be taken in the emergency meeting on Thursday.
Rajender also urged the public to do their part in curtailing the spread of Covid-19 by using masks, practising social distancing and only stepping out of the house when there’s an important necessity.
