The Election Commission has begun arrangements for counting of votes on May 23 for parliamentary elections in Telangana.
As part of the preparations, chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar conducted a training session for all returning officers of 17 parliamentary constituencies on Thursday in the city.
The cheif electoral officer said that use of mobile phones inside counting centres will be
prohibited.
The review highlighted the procedure of counting of votes, postal ballots, EVM machines and VVPAT slips in five machines per constituency as mandated by Supreme Court.
Rajat Kumar said that slips from five voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines would be counted in sequential order. He reminded the election official the rule regarding the appointment of micro-observers. Counting personnel will be randomised at three levels.
