A team of Election Commission of India (ECI) will arrive in Hyderabad on September 30 to take stock of the situation on the revision of electoral rolls and review election arrangements in the state. The Election Commission is likely to take a decision after meeting the state election authorities, collectors and superintendents of police.
It is not clear whether the team will meet political representatives or not. But it will hold meetings with the authorities and go on field visits. It may be recalled that a team from ECI had visited Hyderabad on September 11 and 12 and held review meetings with officials. The team also interacted with representatives of political parties to take their opinions and suggestions.
Meanwhile, revision of electoral process in
the state has reached final stage and the last date for receiving claims and objections will be on September 25. Telangana chief electoral officer (CEO) Rajat Kumar said while new enrolments would be allowed till 10 days before the last date for receiving nominations, claims and objections would be accepted till September 25. The CEO advised voters to approach booth level officers for any claims and objections on the draft electoral rolls which were published on September 1.
“As of today, the election authorities have received 23.87 lakh objections through door-to-door survey done till July 25. During the current revision exercise, 5.80 lakh new voters have enrolled and another 8.75 lakh for deletion under Form 7,” Rajat Kumar told the media on Monday.
