Members from the Election Commission of India (ECI), who met law enforcement agencies, directed the DGP and the state nodal officer to release the seized cash if the amount is found genuine after appropriate verification.

Senior deputy election commissioners Dharmendra Sharma and Nitesh Kumar Vyas and principal secretary of ECI Avinash Kumar visited Hyderabad on Wednesday and interacted with CEO and police officials.

With the ECI releasing notification for filing nominations, they asked the state election commission about the arrangements for the Assembly elections. CEO officials ascertained that the fool-proof arrangements were in place and they were all prepared for conducting free and fair polls.

The ECI officials also met DGP Anjani Kumar, special chief secretary Sunil Sharma, principal

secretary Vani Prasad, additional DGP (CID) Mahesh Bhagwat and others. They directed them to focus on freebies’ distribution and add their costs in the account of the concerned candidate.

After being told that the integrated control room has been set up for monitoring FST, SST, 1950, Suvidha, c-Vigil and EMMC, they expressed satisfaction.

The ECI team members were keen on finding out the time of clearance regarding the pending applications of voters’ lists and the status of printing, distribution of EPIC cards, voter information slips and status of surveillance cameras at key polling stations.

Sharma directed the officials to issue prescribed forms for postal ballot to senior citizens and PwD voters, who wish to vote from their homes, in advance.
