Hyderabad: Bird flu outbreak in some States in the country has hit egg sales with its prices dropping by over Rs 1 per piece. In the last twelve days, egg rates in Hyderabad have dropped by Rs 1.40 i.e., from Rs 5.75 a egg on January 3 to Rs 4.35 on January 16. In retails stores, the prices are varying between Rs 4.50 to Rs 5 a egg.
In fact, Telangana is among the high-production
states with around 3.5 crore eggs everyday and a drop in prices impacts the industry, which is returning to normal after lockdown. According to Telangana State Poultry Federation, there are around 2,000 layer farmers in the State which produce eggs. The Federation said eggs can be consumed without any apprehensions as there have been no bird flu reports in State.
