The Election Commission of India (ECI) authorities published electoral rolls in Urdu for 16 Assembly constituencies and in Marathi for three other Assembly constituencies in the State on Wednesday. The published rolls of these constituencies are made available on the ECI website – www.ceotelangana.nic.in, for verification by voters and political parties among others.
Though the electoral rolls were published on October 12 along with other Assembly segments, translated versions in these constituencies were released as per Rule 4 of Registration of Electors Rules 1960. The rule mandates printing and publication of electoral rolls in the minority language where more than 20 percent of the electors speak and use a language other than the official
language or the number of people literate in that minority language is significantly high.
In a release, Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said the electoral rolls in Urdu were published in the Assembly constituencies of Nizamabad (Urban) in Nizamabad district, and Musheerabad, Malakpet, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Nampally, Karwan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura, Bahadurpura, Secunderabad and Secunderabad Cantonment, all in Hyderabad district.
Similarly, the rolls were published in Marathi, in the Assembly constituencies of Boath in Adilabad district, Mudhole in Nirmal district and Jukkal in Nizamabad district.
