Elvis Stephenson, will be the representative of the Anglo-Indian community in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. He will take oath along with other newly elected legislators on January 17, according an official communication issues by the Chief Minister’s Office here on Monday.

Elvis Stephenson had also been the Nominated MLA in the last Assembly and the decision to renominate him was taken at a cabinet meeting held in Pragathi Bhavan here on Monday. The Chief Minister was stated to have decided to ensure that the Nominated MLA should also take oath along with other MLAs unlike in the past the selection for this post took a long time resulting in loss of precious time for the Anglo-Indian representative to work as an MLA.
 
“To avoid this the Telangana Cabinet in its first meeting itself has taken a decision on the nomination of Anglo-Indian Community representative”, the



CMO press release explained. The proposal to nominate Elvis Stephenson as the MLA was also forwarded to the Governor and after his consent a Gazette notification will be issued.

The Cabinet has placed on record its deep appreciation to the Election Commission of India in general and The Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar for the successful and peaceful conduct of State Assembly Elections. The Cabinet has also placed on record its appreciation to the Election machinery.

The Government has decided to provide copies of constitution of India, assembly procedures, booklets and other information connected to the Legislature procedure in Telugu, English and Urdu languages to all the MLAs. Copies of this were shown to the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao by the Legislature Secretary Vedantam Narsimha charyulu in Pragathi Bhavan on Monday.
