An engineering student reportedly died by suicide by jumping from the 13th floor of a hostel building at Bachupally early on Thursday.
According to the police, the student identified as C Shivanagu, a native of Nagarakurnool district in Telangana, was pursuing engineering first year from a college located at Nizampet and was staying in the college hostel located at a short distance from the college. On Thursday in the early hours, he went to the 13th floor of the building and leapt to death. On noticing the body lying on the ground, the hostel security informed the police.
In a suicide note purportedly written by him, Shivanagu apologised to his parents and said he was ending life because of some
personal issues.
“We seized the suicide note at the spot and it will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. A case under Section 174 of CrPC is registered now and if necessary the sections will be altered based on the outcome of the autopsy report,” said Bachupally Inspector Narsimha Reddy.
Meanwhile, student bodies and family members staged a protest in front of the institution blaming the college management for Shivanagu’s death. They alleged that he ended his life due to harassment and pressure from the college management.
The police had tough time controlling the situation. Additional forces were brought to the spot to assist the local police.
