Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC), photo voter slips and voters’ guide distribution has begun in various places across the State, and will be in full swing in all Assembly constituencies from March 28. According to a communication issued by the State Election Commission, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will go from house to house distributing these documents. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed in an order dated February 28, 2019, that for the purpose of identification of electors in the general elections,
photo voter slips are not valid as standalone identification document for voting.
The electors will have to produce their EPIC cards as Identification documents. Electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall show one of the 11 specified photo identity documents such as passport, driving licence, service photo ID card, bank passbook, PAN card, MNREGA job card, Health Insurance Smart Card, pension document with photograph and Aadhar card.
