BJP legislator Etala Rajendar, who filed his nomination papers from Gajwel on Monday to take on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, declared moveable assets of Rs 28.65 crore and Rs 27.28 crore in immovable assets belonging to his wife Jamuna and himself. Rajendar declared that he had liabilities in the form of loans totalling Rs 19 crore.
While the moveable assets comprised fixed deposits, mutual funds, shares in Jamuna Hatcheries, investments in North East Projects and Infra, and gold, the immoveable assets included investments in construction, agriculture and commercial properties.
Though Rajender has overcome a few unsettled years in politics and fought a byelection from Huzurabad after his ouster from the BRS government, his assets increased as compared to 2018. At that time Rajender and his wife had declared Rs 14.87 crore in moveable assets and Rs 21.56 crore in immoveable properties while their liabilities stood at Rs 21.56 crore.
Speaking to the media after filing his papers from Gajwel, Rajendar said, "During the national executive meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked us to form an action plan to bring the BJP to power in Telangana. The state is now looking towards the BJP
after the BRS failed to achieve the objectives for which Telangana was formed."
He has already filed his nomination papers from Huzurabad, his regular constituency.
He said the BJP was at the forefront of making the country developed. People know that only the BJP has the capacity to dislodge the BRS and people are welcoming us. Some media houses might be propagating otherwise and leaders might be leaving but the people are clearly backing us."
"People are waiting for November 30 to dislodge KCR. The 30,000 people who were displaced by Mallannasagar are biding their time to cast votes. The saffron flag will flutter in the constituency. I request the people to bless me and PM Modi by casting their votes, he said.
BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy, who was present at the submission of nomination papers, said, "KCR constructed the Kaleshwaram only to enrich himself. Water from the project is irrigating only KCR's land in his farmhouse in Erravalli."
Stating that Rajendar was a product of the statehood struggle, Kishan Reddy claimed that the Chandrashekar Rao would lose from both Gajwel and Kamareddy.
