Former speaker K Suresh Reddy of the Congress formally joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Wednesday.
He met chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao who welcomed him and several other leaders from different parties into the TRS fold.
Municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao, Nizamabad MP Kavitha Kalvakuntla Kavitha, party secretary general K Keshava Rao, agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and finance minister E Rajendar also welcomed Suresh Reddy into the party later at a programme organised at Telagana Bhavan, the TRS party headquarters.
Suresh Reddy recalled that he knew chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao
personally since 1989. He said the state could develop only with Chandrasekhar Rao at the helm of affairs. Kavitha Kalvakuntla said the party would get stronger in Nizamabad with the entry of a leader like Suresh Reddy.
Apart from Suresh Reddy, former minister Nerella Anjaneyulu, former MLC Satyanarayana Goud and Congress leader B Laxma Reddy and people of various parties from Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Hyderabad joined the TRS on Wednesday. Minister K T Rama Rao said the TRS would come to power despite the alliance of Congress and TDP. in the state-He expressed with confidence that the party would bag the Uppal assembly seat too which is now held by the BJP.
