In Telangana, extremely heavy rain continued to lash several parts of the state, marooning several low-lying areas. Normal life has been badly hit and dozens of families from low-lying areas have been shifted to safer places in Khammam and Warangal districts. 

The authorities have sounded the second warning at Bhadrachalam as the water level in River Godavari crossed the 48 feet mark last night at 10 PM. About 11 lakh cusecs of water is flowing downstream at Bhadrachalam. The district authorities have step up vigil as several low-lying areas got marooned. 

With heavy rains in its catchment area and release of flood water from upstream projects the water level in River Godavari is expected to increase further.  The schools and colleges remained closed for the second day today due to heavy rains.  

Meanwhile, some parts of Khammam, Karimnagar, Suryapet, Jayshankar Bhupalpally, Hanumakonda, Adilabad, and Mulugu districts witnessed extreme rainfall during a single day. Regonda in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district



recorded the highest of 444.3 mm of rainfall till 6 AM this morning from 8 AM yesterday. About thirty locations in the state recorded over 200 mm rainfall during the same time. 

In Hyderabad Bandlaguda, Kapra and Sherilingampally recorded the highest of over 50 mm of rainfall till 6 AM today.

The Met officials issued a Red alert of extremely heavy rainfall likely at many districts today also.

The district collectors and Superintendents of Police have stepped up vigil in view of the possibility of floods due to overflowing irrigation projects, rivulets, and streams in Godavari Basin following extremely heavy rainfall at many places.  Relief camps, rehabilitation centres, and relief materials have been kept ready.

Over 150 families in low-lying areas in Bhadradri kothagudem and Warangal districts have been shifted to relief centres. Roads were damaged due to heavy rains in Vikarabad and Khammam affecting vehicular traffic to over a dozen villages.
