Amid the soaring temperatures, not only people, but even the cattle and birds find it tough to quench their thirst.

A farmer, Suraraj Singh, who dug a pit in his agriculture field located close to the road near Jharasangam, fills the pit every day with water to help domestic cattle and wildlife to quench their thirst. The farmer has been doing

the service for the last 30 years.

Suraraj Singh drilled five borewells in his field three decades ago and found water in only one. Realising how tough it was to find water in the area, during summer in particular, the farmer decided to help the cattle and birds quench their thirst during the summer by impounding the pit with water every day.
