The 16 farmers from Lagacherla, who were shifted to Central Jail in Sangareddy on Thursday, were inconsolable upon seeing the BRS working president KT Rama Rao during the Mulakhat at Sangareddy jail. Though he tried to comfort them assuring them all support, they could not control themselves and broke down. Rao also turned a bit emotional after seeing them cry. The farmers worried that the Congress government would put them in jail by filing multiple cases until they handed over lands. However, Rama Rao assured than that the BRS would help get bail by talking to expert lawyers.
Since Saturday and Sunday were holidays, the BRS working president said they may get bail during the next. One of the 16 farmers worried that there were none to take his pregnant wife to hospital. Since it is the delivery time for her, he said she would need time-to-time care for her. Former Minister Satyavathi Rathod assured that they would take care of his wife’s delivery. Only four farmers were allowed to talk to them at a time during the Mulakhat.
The farmers also
complained that most of them did not even participate in the attacks on the officers on Monday. An ITI student, who came to the village on Monday evening to see his parents after the attack, was also detained by the police and sent to remand. The student, studying in an ITI at Wanaparthy is worried about his future. Shockingly, a panchayat secretary, who participated in the caste census as part of his duty a few kilometers away from his village, was also put in jail. The panchayat secretary worried that he may lose his job due to the false case.
However, Rama Rao assured him to fight it out in court until he got justice. Since there was no evidence of his participation in the attack, the BRS working president said that he would certainly win the legal battle. Another allegation the government was leveling against the farmers was that some of these farmers did not own any lands. However, their parents and grandparents had lands in their names. BRS leaders Satyavathi Rathod, Srinivas Goud, Chintha Prabhakar, Anil Jadhav, Ravindar Kumar and others accompanied Rao during the Mulakhat.
