A massive fire on Tuesday broke out at FABIndia cloth store in Filmnagar Tuesday afternoon. No casualties were reported, the SFO, Filmnagar, confirmed. According to G B Chandra Shekar Babu, Station Fire Officer (SFO) Filmnagar, fire spread from a combustible waste material dumped in a store located on the ground floor of a G+4 building with residential and commercial establishments.
Fire initiated from the short circuit from the outdoor AC units and spread into the cloth store and due to combustive material, the entire building was full of dark smoke. Luckily, a part of the other portions got alerted and evacuated using the staircase while our teams along with the local police evacuated five
persons who are safe, Chandrashaker said.
As soon as the fire broke out the residents and office staff quickly evacuated the building with the help of fire fighters and Jubilee Hills police. However the fire fighters and the police on coming to know instructed the local substation and tripped off the power. There was heavy smoke due to the combustible material placed in a private firm.
Police registered a case of fire accident and are investigating. We evacuated the residents and the employees at the company first and later our firefighters extinguished the fire, no one was injured and everyone is safe, SFO Chandrashekar said
