In Telangana, a fire broke out at the Srisailam Project's Left bank Power House during the early hours today. The incident took place at the first unit of the project. Power generation was underway at the Multipurpose Project, whose reservoir is receiving heavy inflows of flood water due to incessant rainfall in the state and also at upper catchment areas.
As per the initial information, the rescue operation is underway. Six workers have been rescued
and shifted to hospital. The NDRF team has reached the spot. The services of the staff from the nearby Singareni Coal Collieries have also been sought. State Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy has reached the site and is monitoring the relief measures.
At least two more persons are stuck inside the Power House which is filled with smoke and is becoming an obstacle for carrying relief measures.
