Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday held a meeting with officials to oversee arrangements for the administration of fish prasadam by the Bathini family on June 9 at the Exhibition Ground in Nampally.
The Bathini family has been distributing the fish prasadam for 190 years for patients of bronchial ailments, as part of which a yellow pill is shoved into a live three-inch mural fish and swallowed by the patient.
In a meeting at the Secretariat, attended by GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar, police commissioner C.V. Anand, fisheries commissioner Lacchiram Bhukya and the Bathini brothers, Srinivas
Yadav called for strong barricading, arranging drinking water, holding health camps for emergency medical services and ensuring availability of ambulances at the location.
"Lakhs of people, not only from our state but also from other states and other countries, visit to take the fish prasadam," the minister said. He said that smooth arrangements will be ensured as the event is set to be held after a three-year Covid-induced hiatus.
The minister said that separate counters will be set up for the general public, the elderly, the physically challenged and children.
