The annual fish ‘prasadam’ to be administered on the eve of Mrigasira Karthi by Bathini family will commence on June 8 at 9 am and conclude the next day around 9 am at Exhibition Grounds in Nampally here.
The family has been administering the ‘prasadam’ since 1840, said
Bathini Harinath Goud, who belongs to fourth generation of the family.
The State government was extending necessary help for the convenience of asthma patients thronging the venue from different parts of the country, he said adding that several foreigners also visit the city to avail the facility. Voluntary
organisations are making arrangements to offer water and food to patients and their attendants.
Goud said apart from administering the ‘prasadam’ with fish, the family was also offering ‘prasadam’ made with jaggery for vegetarians. As against the earlier practice of three years, patients should now take ‘prasadam’ for four consecutive years given the rise in pollution levels, he said.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav will hold a meeting on Wednesday to review arrangements to be made for the smooth conduct of administration of ‘prasadam’.
