Five persons from Telangana selected for Padma Awards

Five persons from Telangana have been selected for the prestigious Padma Awards this year including two Padma Bhushan and three Padma Shri honours. Of these, the Padma Bhushan will be awarded to spiritual leaders China Jeeyar Swami and Kamlesh D Patel, popular as Daaji. Chinna Jeeyar Swami, formally known as Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swami, is known for his spiritual discourses on Sri Vaishnavism and is the designer of the Statue of Equality. Heartfulness Movement, is known for his value-based self-development programmes offered to students and faculty in over 2,500 schools, universities and colleges. Heartfulness organisations offer free meditation training in 130 countries.

The Padma Shri will be awarded to M. Vijay Gupta in Science & Engineering category, Hanumantha Rao Pasupuleti in Medicine and B Ramakrishna Reddy in Literature and Education category.
