All flyovers and Outer Ring Road will be closed on the night of December 31 and only passengers holding boarding passes of the airport will be allowed to travel through ORR, said the Cyberabad police. As many as 120 police teams will be deployed to conduct the drunken driving checks on December 31. Sandeep Shandilya, Cyberabad commissioner, asked party organisers to ensure safety of participants especially women. Any misbehaviour during the festivities will be treated strictly and the organiser will have to face the legal consequences, he warned.
He said that all measures have been taken to
ensure a accident-free New Year celebration. Drunken driving, speed control measures will be taken to avoid incidents during the festivities.“Vehicle speed will be restricted on ORR and other roads. Stoppers will be set up to reduce speed. Any driver found under the influence of alcohol will spend his first day of the year in the police station,” the commissioner further warned.
Restrictions will be imposed on ORR and flyovers from 9 pm on December 31 till 3 am on January 1. He also urged all party organisers, owners of hotels, resorts and pubs to cooperate with the police.
