The Forest department opened two urban forest parks - Arogya Vanam urban forest park at Dammaiguda and Jatayuvu urban forest park at Medipalli, in the city. Forest Minister A Indra Karan Reddy and Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy inaugurated the forest parks on Friday.

Indra Karan Reddy said the the State government took up development of reserve forests into urban forest parks to encourage people to spend time with the nature. He said more facilities were being created in the urban forest parks to turn them into tourist spots. He stated that the government was committed to increase forest cover and conserve forests. He urged people to participate in Haritha Haaram to plant more



trees. 

Labour Minister Malla Reddy said CM K Chandrashekhar Rao was giving priority to increase forest cover in the State and also develop them into tourist spots providing much-needed relief for people from hectic city life. He said the urban parks will be developed to entertain everyone in a family.

The Arogya Vanam urban forest park was developed in an area of 298 hectares of reserve forest with Rs 74.25 lakh. Facilities like gazebos for viewpoint, benches, water haversting structures, yoga sheds and walking tracks among others, have been created at the urban forest park. Food courts, open gym, children game area and other facilities will be created in these parks.
