Former Director General of Police (DGP) A.R. Jayachandra, and his daughter actress Payal Neha Panigrani on Thursday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Welcoming them into the party fold, state party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that he was happy that honest officials like Jayachandra were joining the BJP. He said more retired officials are set to join the party in the days ahead.
Everyone who seeks a peaceful and prosperous Telangana should join the BJP, and not be like those who joined hands with the Chief Minister with earning money being their sole intention, he
said. "Some 500 retired officials are helping KCR earn thousands of crores every year even as the state is being pushed into an increasingly bigger debt trap," he said.
At least now such officials should mend their ways and work for the welfare of the state and its people, he said.
Jayachandra said he was happy to join the party and he would work to strengthen it, adding that he was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Payal said that she would serve the party by taking up any work assigned to her.
