Free EPIC cards for 2.7 lakh new voters

For nearly 2.71 lakh voters who have enrolled in the electoral rolls from January 1 to November 11, EPIC cards will be distributed free of cost, said District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore.

The DEO, along with officials and ECI-appointed observers, held a review meeting on Model Code of Conduct and arrangements for poll day and counting.

separate vehicles would be deployed, he said while directing officials to take care of their transportation to polling stations concerned. Also, for some identified polling station, surveillance cameras were being provided within 100 metres for transparency, according to a press release.

Arrangements for webcasting from all 3,873 polling stations were being made, and a separate control room was set up at GHMC head office, he said.
