Health Minister Etela Rajender on Thursday said the government was preparing a plan for providing free treatment for chronic diseases to patients at government hospitals in the State.
Treatment would cover diseases such as cancer, heart, kidney failure and others. The plan is expected to be implemented in the next six months to one year period. The Minister said while the rich could afford treatment on their own, it was the poor who face severe hardships if affected by chronic diseases.
Rajender was speaking during a
programme of distribution of Bathukamma sarees in Huzurabad on Thursday.
People have to spend Rs 40,000 to Rs 1 lakh for a delivery in private hospitals which has become a huge burden for poor people. To help the poor, the State government has taken steps to enhance deliveries in government hospitals by introducing KCR kits and other programmes. Informing that 100 institutional deliveries were taken place in Huzurabad, he assured to enhance deliveries in Jammikunta and Kamalapur hospitals too.
