Fuel prices are on an ascent, yet again. On Thursday, petrol and diesel prices in the city were hiked by 24 paise and 33 paise a litre respectively. “We were expecting the prices to go down by at least Rs 4 each by September end.
However, due to the increase in the international crude oil prices, the dynamic pricing system is back again and fuel prices in the city will likely go up further in the next two weeks,” said G Vinay Kumar,
President, Telangana State Petrol Dealers Association.
Giving more insight into the matter, Vinay Kumar said the international oil prices were volatile and expected to move up due to rising demand and continued supply squeeze. “Customers should not expect any instant relief as fuel prices may not soften immediately. However, eventually, the prices might be corrected by the government,” he added.
